June thru August 2008

June 4th The featured book this Wednesday will be, This is the House That Jack Built, by Simms Taback. Paul Fisher will be leading the children in songs and games and the children will be playing with The Nutrition Theme Box. The library's Summer Reading Program begins on June 18th. We will have guest presenters every week from June 18 - August 13. Included in the program is a reading program for older children that will encourage them to read during school vacation. Please call the library at 347-4818 for more details.

June 11th The featured book this week will be, Olivia Saves the Circus, by Ian Falconer. Paul Fisher will be present with songs and games and the children will be playing with puppets of all kinds. Come join the fun.

June 18th The Summer Reading Program's featured guest is The Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department. The children will be shown all the gear the firefighters use to fight fires and all the equipment on the fire truck. The firefights will also be teaching the children about Stop, Drop and Roll.

June 25th The Summer Reading Programs guest this week will be Curves. The children will be learning about the importance of healthy eating and getting enough exercise.

July 2nd Cottonwood Garden Club - Kids plant something good to eat with LaSeine Ware

July 9th Nutritionist - Make easy snacks with Pat Carlson

July 16th Anderson Athletic Club - Have fun with exercise with Seth Hinton

July 23rd Northwest Martial Arts - Exercise with Martial Art instructor Alan Mythe, a 6th degree Black Belt

July 30th Old Town Eatery - Lets eat healthy with Chef Jim Thompson

August 6th Eagles Nest Pizza - Learn to make healthy Pizza with Elaine Lowell

August 13th End of the Summer Reading Program Party

Our regular Story Time completes the month with: August 20th Story Time will feature The Doorbell Rang, by Pat Hutchins. The children will be playing with the Alphabet Balls and Paul Fisher will be present for songs and finger play.
