google.gif  Dogpile  How to search   Searching tutorial

Google is my favorite search engine. I use it for most searches. At times I want to find more obscure pages. For this I use Dogpile. Dogpile searches Google, Yahoo, MSN, and others all at once.

Searching the internet is an aquired art. We get better at it as we go along. Try making your searches more refined. When searching for a person by name enclose the name in "Quotes".
Let's say you are looking for John Smith. Putting the name in quotes brings the John Smith's in ahead of all the John's and all the Smiths. (That still returned 5million returns.) Maybe your John Smith is from New Jersey. (That narrows it down to 180 thousand returns.)Let's also assume that the one you are looking for is/was a plumber. A search for: "John Smith" "New Jersey" plumbing will bring you better returns.(now 23000). Suppose you know that this John smith is in Jersey City. Now searching "John Smith" "New Jersey" plumbing "Jersey City" narrows it down to 577 results. This is a much better search.
