Because we are currently and always will be a community-supported library, we receive no government funding of any kind. We have one part time paid staff member who oversees the day to day running of the library, and approximately 20 actively involved volunteers who perform circulation desk duties, shelving, cataloguing, and general library clerk duties. We are fortunate to have three volunteers who go out into the community day care centers to do storytime, one volunteer who delivers books to a shut-in senior, and five tutors who work with Hispanic families on instruction in the English language. The entire library's revenue is raised through fundraisers, grants, and from a show of support from patrons and business partners in our rural area. Here some ways you can help. | |
FRIENDS OF THE COTTONWOOD COMMUNITY LIBRARY
"Friends of the Cottonwood Community Library" was established for the community members who are interested in and want to support the Cottonwood Community Library. It offers the opportunity to be involved with the library by keeping current with the news and improvements that are being made. A colored newsletter is mailed to your home every two months for a yearly membership level of your choosing. The membership dues afford the community member an opportunity to show their support monetarily and become a contributing member to this important community asset.
Once a year we hold an Annual Membership meeting to honor our "Friends" and invite input from them. We also appreciate further involvement if so desired.
