Books and Bling Available for Purchase at the Library

By Gayle Harrington, Director of Library Services

Just in time for Mother's Day and Graduation gifts, the Cottonwood Community Library has partnered with Premier Jewelry to hold a jewelry sale in conjunction with its quarterly book sale. Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 10:00am - 2:00pm, the Cottonwood Community Library will come alive with shoppers as books and related reading materials for sale will be set up in one room, while a large and colorful assortment of jewelry available for purchase that day will be displayed in another room of the library.

Gayle Harrington, Director of Library Services, states, "The library has never done this type of jewelry sale on site before. We are excited about the selection and great value that the Premier Jewelry representative is sharing with us. There will be something for everyone at this fabulous sale. The timing could not be better."

As in past book sales, there will be a large selection of books to choose from. "This quarter there seems to be a lot of Harlequin Romance novels and a good selection of other paperbacks", explained Patsy Finck, chairperson of the Book Committee. Shoppers need to come early for the best selections for both the books and the jewelry. Proceeds from both sales go directly to the Cottonwood Community Library.

The book sale and jewelry sale will be held in the Cottonwood Community Library, located at 3427 Main Street. For more information, please call the library at 347-4818.

A Community Library can be a big asset to our town. A place for the young and old.

Our library is not government funded, it is a gift from our people , to our people.

Paul Walther, our candidate (and the winner) for "Honorary Mayor" of Cottonwood. Paul cooked a delicious Dutch Oven dinner. The menu included roast, carrots, potatoes and gravy, salad, bread and a Dutch Oven cherry crisp with ice cream.
Theme baskets were raffled off by Bradd McDannold. Bradd entertained us all while he brought in much needed money for the library.
Thank you Paul and Bradd!
REMEMBERING OUR FOUNDER,
DR.. JAMES REIFERT

He arrived in Cottonwood in 1962 and departed in 2009. In that span of time he became a fixture in our community and a part of our lives. He delivered our children, administered to our needs, made house calls and was available even in the middle of the night. He was active in the community. He had ideals and lived by them. He loved to read.

Hundreds came to his memorial service on a rainy February 5th to honor his memory. After all those years as a small town doctor, he left another legacy to everyone in Cottonwood: The Cottonwood Community Library. He gave this to all of us to enjoy and take care of. We have to remember this and honor his memory by supporting this wonderful asset in our community and making sure that it is always a part of the future of our children. He entrusted us with this responsibility.

Dr. James Reifert
