Corning Union High School Class of 1969.

Kathy Musser
After graduating from Corning High I went on to Chico State where I earned a BA in Art History. There were few jobs in Art History so I went to work in retail. I got married and started a 22 yr career in banking. I held various management positions over the years but I always enjoyed working with the customers the best. I lived in Chico , Capitola, Salinas , (twice) and Rocklin, California and then moved to Johnson City , TX for 10 years where I worked in the local bank. We also had a ranch where we raised horses and goats. .
I got a divorce and moved to Greenville , California . I am very involved with our local museum & rock club. I am also the treasurer and editor of our newsletter for the Gem and Museum Society. I now have a new man in my life. I work in his office as his bookkeeper, etc. Norman is a mining executive for several mining companies. We keep very busy with the companies.

After graduating from C.U.H.S. I married Kathleen Hughes. My place of employment was Diamond Egg Cartons in Red Bluff Ca. This was ok until my draft notice came in the mail. Uncle Sam Wants You for the U.S. Army ! I elected to join the U.S. Navy do my time in Vietnam, return home and get out.
Our first of 3 sons was born while I was off the coast of Vietnam ,Justin Morgan Oct 4 1972. I finished my tour with the Navy and returned to Corning. I returned to my old job at Diamond ,but later left and started working in the field I was trained for in the Navy welding. I worked for Orchard Carriers Inc in Corning for a couple of years ,must be around 1975 now and I see no future at this job. Headed south to Orland and went to work for Musco Olive Plant in the maintenance department, lasted about a year. Took employment with Top Line Equipment in Redding Ca. as a field service mechanic. Worked on industrial forklifts ,backhoes ,had a service truck and had to travel a lot. Our second son Blaine was born on March 15 1978,and in June 8 1978 I went to work for the Johns Manville Corporation in Willows Ca. I maintained all the industrial forklifts, electric lifts ,electric carts ,man lifts. Our last son Richie was born April 21 1980. That was the last of my baby making, we divorced after 15 years. My employer was and still is Johns Manville ,but after 12 years working on mobile equipment I switched over to the electrical department. I did a three year apprentice program with my employer and have been a journey man electrician for19 years. I have been employed for the Johns Manville for 31 years. I have a granddaughter Kylie Marie Morgan born to my middle son Blaine. Kylie is 5 years old and warms my heart. I stay in close contact with my sons and my granddaughter. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hi everyone, I know this is late but there has been a very sad loss to the family over the Labor Day weekend. I know that a lot of you know the family members and will remember, Pat Jones. She passed away from an accident at Black Butte Lake. It was very unexpected and a difficult time for all who knew and loved her.
So I will try and share some more pleasant events since high school. I went to Shasta College for 1 year, transferred to Chico State for six months, and was then married for 20 years and pretty much a stay at home mom. Before having 2 amazing children, I worked about 1 year for the Shasta County Marshall as an office assistant and knew that I liked law enforcement and the court system. My daughter Roxanne was born in 1974 and is now living in Redding as an office manager for a doctor's office. She has a degree in Health Administration and working towards a MA in Human Behavior. She has one son and my only grandchild, Carver.
My son Ryan, was born in 1979, and has lived in Busan, Korea for the last five years teaching English to Korean students. He has a love for surfing and has traveled to many exotic places. He is living his dream of traveling. Family is really important to me and spending time together with them. This summer when Ryan came home to visit we spent a couple days up at Hat Creek fishing.
After the divorce, I started a career in law enforcement working with the Probation Department. I started as a legal process clerk and for the past few years work as a probation assistant. When I started, our classmate, Dalton Fichter, was working in the juvenile hall, and it was very nice to see a familiar face. Most of my time has been spent working in the juvenile division so I would frequent the JH.
I guess that I did things backwards from most by finishing up my college with a BA in Liberal Arts in 2004 from Simpson and an MA in Public Administration from Nation University in 2006. I have enjoyed reading all of your profiles.

Yikes! 40 years! The First 20. . . Should I share my stories as an exotic dancer or as a nun? I graduated CSU Chico in English with a Secondary Credential ill-prepared and perhaps ill-suited. Your former classmate spent the first year of teaching taking hot baths every evening with hot tears and too much cold, white wine. The next chapter took me to the Bay Area to seek my fortune and learn about culture and diversity on the edge of the Wild West. I worked as a travel agent about 10 years and had a good bite of the world! Next, I worked as a caterer for a time, great parties but Martha Stewart I was not to be. .
The Second 20,1989 came home to care for my Mom in her final illness. I became reacquainted with the boy next door, if Richfield had next doors--Craig Hemping.
I also reconnected with our late classmate Scott Turner. Scott taught me many lessons on living and dying. He died in 1991. As many of you now know, there is nothing, nothing, nothing like grief for perspective.
I went back to school and earned an Early Childhood Education degree. I wanted to work with young children. I learned to sing more. My credo: Forget the ABC's and reversing letters, they'll get that for years in elementary school! Focus on building esteem, conflict resolution and finding one's voice. This period was all about teaching at a great school in Berkeley for me and for Craig it was about fledging his youngest son. Consequently, we enjoyed one of the Western world's longest courtships. In 1998 I became a bifocal bride. We set up in Chico. Craig works at Sierra Pacific in Richfield.
I worked at CSUChico Children's Lab School. Several years down the road with no retirement plan and arthritic hips (you try getting up and down off the floor constantly in front of groups of 20-something- student teachers!) I was led away from the small people. What a job! Where else could you begin your day with 30 hugs? Another re-invent with Craig's support and I was back to school at Butte College to learn computer applications. Now I'm Language Arts secretary at Butte College. We have four fully-fledged (knock wood) children he did the hard work and I'm the step-mother-- and 11 grandchildren scattered across the US. We enjoy canoeing with only the occasional near-mutiny. By our 50th reunion I aspire to become "Marmot Matron". Look for me at high Sierra trailheads' a militant in tennis shoes , staff in hand, prodding under cars to dislodge anti-freeze-sucking- altered Marmots--ever-vigilant -- striving to save weary homeward bound hikers or. . . perhaps I'll work as tattoo remover's assistant? Remember this isn't a dress rehearsal' live life.

When I graduated I left Corning, married in Red Bluff, had two daughters, and then divorced. I then left Calif.and moved to Oklahoma, then to Florida, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, Minnesota,Tennessee, and back to California.

Greetings, Class of '69
Well, I've procrastinated long enough. Has anyone else out there looked back and wondered what in the world they had been doing for the last 40 years of their life? I am impressed how far our classmates have wandered, how diverse their occupations, and how closely they are still connected to the years we spent together in school. I enjoyed the opportunity to read the memories of others and to rummage through some of my own, like riding the bus to school every day, the trips to San Francisco with the C.S.F. group, working on homecoming floats, and a certain group of people on graduation night setting out to let the air out of tires, then thinking better of it.
After high school I attended Fresno State until my marriage to Mike Myers from the El Camino area. He was just back from Viet Nam and got an apprenticeship at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo , CA where we lived for 24 years. I was able to stay at home with our 3 children and even got to homeschool them for several years. When they went back to finish high school, I worked for a while at a veterinary hospital. In 1995 the shipyard closed, and we relocated in Boise , Idaho , leaving our oldest daughter attending Chico State where she would be near family in Corning . In Boise I joined our 2nd daughter attending Boise State (go Broncos!), and graduated in 2001 with a B.S. degree in biology for secondary education. After a brief time teaching in a private school, I spent several years doing substitute work for Boise schools, and last year was hired as the receptionist / attendance secretary for one of the junior high schools.
I have been able to go on two trips I always thought would be fun. Soon after our 2nd daughter married, the girls and I took a 2-week guided tour through Switzerland and Austria , touching down in Germany , Liechtenstein , Italy , and France . We saw Salzburg and the 'Sound of Music' sights, Vienna's palaces and the Spanish Riding School, petted the Lipizzaner mares and foals at the stud farm outside of Graz, ate lunch in St. Moritz, rode trams to see awesome mountains, saw the Matterhorn through the mist on our last day in Zermatt, walked across the covered bridge in Lucerne, bought a Swiss watch in Zurich, and took a side trip to an area near St. Gallen where some of my ancestors lived before coming to America. It was a wonderful trip.
Two summers ago our family and in-laws had a fabulous time on a cruise through the Alaska Inside-passage and the College Fiords. What sights! My brother met us in Whittier for a visit to his home in Kenai before taking us to the airport in Anchorage .
These days we stay pretty close to home here in Boise . This summer Mike was diagnosed with A.L.S. and traveling is becoming difficult. We are thankful that our son and his wife live 4 miles away and are a great help to us.
I'm wishing all of you the best and know you will have an enjoyable time at the class reunion.

Chuck and I have been marrried for 32 years and have 3 grown children between us and 3 grandsons from age 3 to 1 years. Since we don't live in the same state as any of them, we don't get to see them nearly often enough. We have lived in Yuba City, CA, Salem, OR.., Vancouver, Wa. and Phoenix, AZ. where we now reside. We are still working... I am the admin. assistant at our church and Chuck is an EVP of commercial lending at a local credit union here in AZ. We hope to retire in a couple of years...anyone have a crystal ball for the stock market? Our personal plan is to move back to N.CA. at that time. With the way the economy is in CA., will there be anything to move to? HA!. Actually, the key will be discerning God's plan for us when the time come.
I have been very blessed over the past 40 years and look forward to visiting with as many friends from our class of "69 as possible.
