Earl and I have been married for 11 years. We met working together at a small print shop in Union City, CA, in 1987. It took us a while to get together because I moved back to Utah. Mike Richards (Sapp) and I were married 14 years and had 3 children. Margo is an archeologist living in Reno and working in Utah. Rachelle is an accountant and the new mom of my first grandchild, Senta, who is 6 months old now. They and my son, Kevin (a carpenter along with Rachelle's husband) both live in Logan. Earl thinks of them as his own family, even though he does have 2 daughters and grandchildren who we never see. I worked first in printing layout and then went into banking after finally getting my Bachelor's degree in Business Management with Financial Planning Emphasis in 1994. I've been working as a bank supervisor for 14 years. Earl works for Best Buy in loss prevention.
I really look forward to seeing everyone. My high school years and before are some of my fondest memories.

Okay, I've enjoyed reading the ones sent in so far, so I guess I'll do mine...
Went to BYU for 2 years, then UC Davis for 3, worked briefly in the Bay Area, then headed to Seattle to work and play until 1979. My dad was training race horses in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane and I moved east to work with him. Met Matt, he had just graduated from Washington State and was working his summer job, testing the race horses for drugs. We married the next year when he accepted a spot at Aviation Officer Candidate School and had our "honeymoon" driving 2 cars to Pensacola, FL. Were in Florida and Texas for 2+ years, then settled on Whidbey Island, WA, for 10+ years, Matt flying A-6 Intruders while I worked for a manufacturing company. Matt spent a lot of the time onboard carriers, either training or deployed. I got to meet the ship periodically--short trips to Victoria, B.C. and San Diego, longer ones to HI, London and Kenya, and enjoyed myself at home training and showing dogs in obedience, conformation, tracking and water work. Next we moved to Newport, R.I., Matt got his Masters at Naval War College and I got to see much of the Northeast while traveling to dog shows. While there, Matt was selected to transition to flying F-18 Hornets, and also to command a squadron. He headed to Japan to join a squadron that was soon scheduled to move back to the West Coast, I went to Whidbey and then moved all the critters (2 horses, 6 dogs, 2 cats) to Hanford, CA, to wait for the squadron to arrive in Lemoore, where it was going to be based. 2 1/2 years there, then back to the Whidbey while Matt was Operations Officer on the Abraham Lincoln. On to D.C. in 2001 for a little over a year at the Pentagon, then to Hampton Roads, in S.VA, where Matt was Commodore for all the East Coast Hornets. In 2004 we headed to Fallon, NV, where Matt served as Deputy Commander at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (Topgun is one of the schools that are part of this command). I taught dog classes, competed with the dogs in agility and have been learning to quilt. Matt recently retired from the Navy, took some time off, and now has to decide on his next career. He has several offers and will be deciding in the next couple weeks what happens next (and where--D.C., here, Pasco, WA, S.CA...), so, though I hope to get to the reunion, I'm not sure if we'll be here, in the middle of moving, or settling in somewhere else, so don't know if I'll be able to get to Corning.
Anyway, I wanted to share one of our most memorable incidents over the past 40 years. It was our 21st wedding anniversary. We were living in Ashburn, VA and had dinner plans to celebrate that night with some friends. Matt headed in to work early and I spent the morning as usual, out feeding and playing with the horses and dogs. I came inside about 9:30 to find a phone message from Matt telling me to turn on the T.V., the World Trade Towers had been hit by a plane. I turned on the T.V. and called Matt back, but the phone just rang, with no one answering. That was unusual, since there were lots of desks and people around his spaces and someone would always pick up a ringing phone. Right then came a news flash on the T.V. that the Pentagon had just been hit. I hung up and tried Matt's cell phone, but couldn't get through. Phones were quickly useless as all systems were overloaded. I didn't know the exact location of where Matt worked, but knew he was on the 5th floor of the D ring, on the side where the helo pad was. As information trickled in on the T.V., I learned that the plane had hit on the helo pad side of the building, destroying the E ring, ramming through the D ring and continuing on into the C ring. I sat in front of the T.V., knowing no more than that, until around 2:30 that afternoon when Matt walked in the front door. They had just recently moved back into their spaces in the D ring after construction had been done to reinforce that section of the building. That very likely saved his life and the lives of everyone in his area--so many others were not as fortunate. The plane had gone in directly beneath them and destroyed the first three floors below them. They were all watching the news, felt the building shake and shudder, then looked out to see only flames on both sides of the building. But the floors held and everyone in their area was able to evacuate safely--but quickly, without cell phones (not that you could get a call through anyway) or car keys. Matt eventually found someone in a car headed west, in the direction of our home, and was able to hitch a ride. He said it was a slow drive, as the roads out of D.C. were bumper to bumper and moving at a crawl, and very eerie, as all the overpasses had armed military personnel on guard over the roads. The following weeks continued to be very stressful, with the anthrax mailings and just residual fear and tension. Our plans with friends for that night were canceled, but we were happy just to be home together, and neither of us have any excuse now to ever forget our Sept 11th anniversary date.

After High School I moved to Redding and attended Beauty College, and went to work at a salon in Redding. I met my husband Floyd in Redding, together we have 5 children and 5 grandchildren, the light of our lives! Yesterday our youngest son informed us we will be grandparents once again in Oct. Floyd retired from the Railroad 5 years ago. We moved to Red Bluff in 1984 and bought my own salon about a year later. One thing led to another and in July of 2005 we expanded from 600 sq ft to 3000 sq ft, full service salon and beauty supply 8 hairstylist and 2 nail tech's which keeps us pretty busy and tied down, Floyd now helps me run the salon, quite different from building track and running heavy machinery, be careful guys what your mate asked you to do. It is fun reading all the profiles, and getting caught up. The last 2 years have been pretty busy for me as both my parents have been seriously ill and I lost my mom in Oct so its been a sad year, but also the circle of life. On a happy note, we spend our spare time traveling, our favorite place is Maui, love to swim, snorkel, scuba, all the fun things to do in the sun. We work hard and play hard, we will be going back to the big island in August of 2010, if our budget will allow it, we work so we can play. I 'am very blessed, with a great family and husband, and lucky to have a career that I still love 35 years later, so far our health is good, and we are truly living the American dream we own a business home and have a great family, or Politically correct the business owns us! Either way life is good and very busy. Looking forward to seeing everyone, see you soon!
