Corning Union High School Class of 1969. | ||
| Janie Garcia Moore It's amazing forty years have passed for the class of "69"! My mind is a kaleidoscope of thoughts as I read the profiles of classmates. My granddaughters love exploring my memory box and the stories I share with them. What fun reviewing yearbooks, pictures, and notes from high school. Lorenzo Casia and Nancy Shelton were friends from Loyalton. I attended 5th and 6th grades in Loyalton. Ann and Eric Lauha, Sharon Burt,Judi Moller, Carol (Cooky) Purcell, Debby Clemans, Barbara Pritchard and Gary Dyke lived on or near Link Street near my Grandmother. Mary Lou and Vern Jackson, Janet Love, and Howard Towne were our neighbors when I lived in the country. Having worked at Rogers Theater most of my high school years gave me a different view of the teens outside of the school setting. Each of you have remain young in my mind as I've not seen most of you since 1969. As in all things my life has changed from my last profile. My husband Gary of 23 years passed away Christmas day 2002. I retired from a nursing career, returned to Orland where my son, daughters and their families live. I have four granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-grandson. My family hold my heart! I've returned to my church in Corning making new friends and reconnecting with wonderful old friends. I spend a great deal of time with my grandchildren and always enjoy Debby, Cooky, and Susan ( a new friend). Glenn's story of his mother is a reminder of what motherhood is all about. I loved it, thanks for sharing. This is my first reunion. I have attended Battle of the Bands. Bonnie is terrific! I'd love to hear Bonnie, Judi , and Karen from Card and Notes. I'm looking forward to our reunion. I'd like to think I'll be living in Kauai by our 50 or 60th reunion. God's blessing to all, | ![]() | |
| PROFILE OF JAIME GUZMAN Hello everyone: Hard to believe it has already been 40 years since our last days at Corning High School. In 1973 I graduated from Chico State College and then was hired to a management banking position, in San Francisco. Within a year I realized banking was not for me so I moved to Sacramento where I was hired in an administrative position with the State of California. Later on I became the Deputy Director of the Office of Legislation where I lobbied at the Capitol, for the State Department of Mental Health. This was very challenging and rewarding. Last year I retired from State government. However, I continue to invest in real estate and conduct my own property management.. I have a wonderful wife and a great son. My wife and I enjoy traveling to Mexico. Now with all the free time, we plan on traveling more to Canada and Europe. I still enjoy the outdoors with bicycling, fishing and running. Over the years I have ran several marathons and am considering one for December. My new outdoor challenge is fly fishing. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. | ||
| Glenn Hale. I'll be at the reunion with my wife Pattye of 39 years. I attended Shasta College right after CUHS where I met my wife. We were married in 1970 and I went to work selling auto parts in Red Bluff. Our daughter, Ruth, (the joy of my life) was born in 1976. The company promoted me and I moved to Cottonwood in 1978. About 1990 I opened my own Auto Parts store, running it until about 2000. I closed that store, went back to Shasta College for awhile and opened another business, "Triple H Computers" repairing computers. I spent 15 years helping our Chamber of Commerce. Now I volunteer for our community library. I like woodworking, gardening, reading, and computers. I am also a poor blacksmith and fair with muzzle loading rifles. Nope, I never got rich, at least not with money. Friends and family are all the riches I wanted I guess.I guess I like small towns. I'll probably grow old here. (I mean like really old!) | ![]() | |
| Rita Hale I moved from California in 1972 to Alaska. I worked in a cocktail waitress pool (like secretary pool) and worked all of the bars. I then got hired by Western Airlines in July of 1972 working in the flight kitchen preparing meals for all the carriers out of Alaska. In 1974 I transferred to the ticket counter in Sacramento. Then I transferred in 1977 to Hawaii ticket counter and auditing. I left there in 1980 and transferred to Denver as ticket agent. In 1983 transferred to Salt Lake City and worked in the tower. I remained there for 20 years. Delta Airlines merged with Western in 1987 so I lost my first 15 years of retirement. In 2003, I retired with an early out severance package and I keep my flight benefits for the rest of my life as does my son and father. I have 1 son soon to be 40 and maybe a marriage or 2 or 3 in there somewhere. I now live in Orland but thinking of moving back to Utah. Plan on doing a lot of travel this year starting with Hawaii in September and Aruba the end of October. | ||
